Through her tireless advocacy, she has effectively communicated the plight of the trees and the consequential degradation of biodiversity, fostering a profound impact within the communities surrounding Ludlow. Many volunteers have been inspired to join our cause due to Evelyn's impassioned efforts.
The genesis of our group began in the dining room of Evelyn's home in Peppermint Grove Beach during January 2018. Since then, Evelyn's dedication has been reflected in her substantial volunteer hours, each year, equivalent to full time employment!
Her contributions are multifaceted and as the inaugural President of the Ludlow Tuart Forest Restoration Group. Evelyn played a pivotal role in rallying community support for the restoration of the last tall stand Tuart Forest in the world and the associated heritage buildings at the Ludlow Settlement. Her numerous radio interviews advocating for the forest and Ludlow settlement have significantly raised awareness within the community, eliciting positive feedback on our efforts.
Evelyn's involvement in the planting of Tuart tree seedlings has been instrumental in our success to date. Her efforts in guiding school children during planting sessions not only contribute to the forest's restoration but also instil a sense of pride and environmental stewardship in the younger generation, benefiting the community for years to come.
Beyond tree planting, and her tireless advocacy, Evelyn has taken charge of maintaining the tidiness and cleanliness of the Ludlow Settlement to ensure it is presentable and attractive to passersby. She purchased a commercial-grade mower and has dedicated much time to ensuring an aesthetically pleasing and fire-safe environment. Evelyn has kindly donated the mower to our group.
Evelyn's unwavering dedication to the cause, reflects her profound commitment. Her wholehearted involvement serves as the backbone of the group, evident in her vocal advocacy and active recruitment efforts within the community. She has invested her heart and soul into the cause of preserving the forest. Whether it's managing organizational tasks or actively engaging on-site, she generously devotes her time to the cause. Her remarkable contribution of volunteer work over the past seven years truly underscores her steadfast dedication and the significance of her leadership within the community.
Evelyn is a dependable presence almost daily and especially steps up when visitors are on-site. Her unwavering commitment ensures the smooth functioning of our initiatives and welcomes visitors with open arms.
We will miss her presence on the committee and we will continue wholeheartedly with the Ludlow vision that is so dear to hers and our hearts. Evelyn is continuing to volunteer, and her advice and wisdom will continue to guide the organisation.
Thanks Evelyn.
